Welcome to The Start Gate!
This blog has been in semi-regular operation since 2014, exclusively maintain by me, Zach Faulkner. I am also known as #mtbjesus to many, a nickname bestowed upon me by Boris “Maddog” Beyer in my first year shooting World Cups. This site has morphed from a fun blog filled with [usually] bike-related prose, into a whole new dimension of photojournalism, suspension tuning services, and a whole lot more.
2020 saw a bit of a hiatus for The Start Gate, as not much could be done during those times, except get out and go ride! Since then, The Start Gate has remained a known destination for independent, third-party event reporting, reviews of products, tech-talk, backyard adventures, and generally fun content that will inspire the new-comers, stoke the enthusiasts, and resonate with the viewership on a whole.
